About the Maker

The L. E. Smith Co. was founded in 1907 by Louis E. Smith and his associates in Jeannette, PA. Early production was of practical glassware for home and kitchen use, including salt and pepper shakers, sherbet glasses, tumblers, beer glasses and mustard pots. The company expanded into more industrial applications, ranging from the first headlights for the Ford Model T, to the glass domes in early coffee percolators to the vault lights seen embedded in sidewalks.
