Your Hosts, Russell & Noriko

Like many during Covid, Noriko and I began exploring making craft cocktails at home. Of course, that meant we needed cocktail glasses (we didn't have any), so Noriko picked some up at our local thrift stores.

Since I collected old bottles as a kid, I began to recognize in some of these thrift store finds some of the signs I knew to look for to determine the age of old bottles. I discovered that some of our thrift store finds were vintage. And so it began.

Before I knew it, we were collecting antique and vintage glassware in increasing quantities, including at estate sales and online auctions.

Fast forward to today, and we've collected hundreds of vintage cocktail glassware sets, mostly from the mid-1800s to the mid-1900s.

We have found much joy in building this collection, which is how The Joy of Cocktails came to be.

The joy we've found is in the beauty and craftsmanship, as well as the culture and history, of these functional pieces of art.

Through the catalog, our eNewsletter, our social channels and more, we look forward to sharing this joy with our family, friends and colleagues. You can read more about our plans for nurturing a community of vintage glass barware enthusiasts, here.

Whether you're drinking alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverages we hope that you will "drink creatively and be joyful!"

All the best,
Russell
