Anchor Hocking Glass Company
Founded in 1905 in Lancaster, Ohio by Isaac "Ike" Collins, six associates, and E.B. Good, the Hocking Glass Company originally crafted handmade glass items. By the 1920s, it was producing a broad range of products including chimneys, lantern globes, and a variety of tableware. In 1928, Hocking introduced its first line of pressed glass dinnerware, followed by molded and etched designs.
The company expanded rapidly, acquiring several glass houses and beginning glass container production in 1931. In 1937, after merging with Anchor Cap and Closure Corporation, it became the Anchor Hocking Glass Company. The firm continued to grow, establishing new glass plants across several states and broadening into plastics and other materials, becoming Anchor Hocking Corporation in 1969.
Acquired by Newell Company in 1987, and later by Global Home Products, Anchor Hocking was eventually merged into EveryWare Global by Monomoy Capital Partners in 2012. After restructuring under bankruptcy in 2015, it reemerged as The Oneida Group in 2017.
